Lathyrus Odoratus

A day of two halves

In the morning a rather cold, wet and windy walk over the South Downs in search of the Early Spider Orchid at one of its Sussex strongholds. I was pleased to find them as I missed them last year. They are very short - perhaps 5-10 cm - and can be difficult to spot in the turf but I found about forty.

The rest of the day was spent in A&E. I managed to trip over in the garden, falling down seven concrete steps, splitting my elbow open and banging my head rather badly and knocking me out. The elbow isn't broken but I have six stitches in it. I've had a CT scan of my head which shows no evidence of bleeding but I'm supposed to take things easy for the next 48 hours.
