Rannadale
A wonderful day out today and a great blipmeet with Trevor ( trevorearthy) and Ros (biblinros).
Trevor kindly gave us coffee in his lovely riverside cottage in Cockermouth and took us, along with Chloe, to see the amazing Rannadale bluebells above Crummock Water. They are apparently out almost a month early so it was a very last minute decision to go as by the time we return from Scotland next month they will probably be over.
They are so stunning especially as you approach them. We are used to lots of bluebells in the woodlands around here and I love to see them in the dappled shade, but here they fill a hillside and small valley beneath Rannerdale Knot.
We trod very carefully but a herd of sheep being moved as we arrived weren’t being quite so careful!
Back in Cockermouth we met up with Ros and had lunch in a very nice cafe before walking along the river to see the castle and the brewery familiar from Trevor’s blips.
We were so lucky to squeeze another good warm day from this amazing Easter week but we arrived home to a very heavy downpour!
Thank you so much for your hospitality Trevor and Ros, we will look forward to seeing you again and maybe even return to those bluebells one day.
