Yawn!
Driving toward Cleveland from the west, we were blessed by an amazing double rainbow along the lake shore. Rain had fallen all afternoon and our entire road trip was done to the swishing of windshield wipers and tapping of raindrops on the hood of the car. And then the sky began to clear behind us and a beautiful rainbow appeared overhead. We took the nearest exit and drove into the city, hoping to get a good shot of the 'bow from the pier behind the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
I did manage to capture a couple of fair shots, but the colors were beginning to fade, so I turned my attention to other blip possibilities along the Lake Erie waterfront. That's when I spotted this gull. Moving slowly in his direction, I started taking pictures. I didn't want to scare him away until I got "the" shot, and then to my amazement, he opened his mouth and yawned. Oblivious to the beauty of the rainbow and the setting sun, and the chatter from the car radio about the Mayan calendar and predictions of the end of the world, he YAWNED! I couldn't believe my eyes. It wasn't the blip I had planned, for who could plan a thing like that, but it was definitely the one I would post in my Blipfoto journal. I hope you like it as much as I do.
P.S. Thanks for all the stars and comments on yesterday's picture of the brave little nuthatch.
