The first trainee

Dominique is the first French man in France ever to pull a bell rope on English bells! The media announced that we were starting a bell ringing school but that sounds rather grand. We are giving eight people individual tuition, an hour each every day over four days, to try to build a team. To begin with the learner only holds the tail end. The second stage just requires pulling the sally. When they have mastered this, they will then try to put the two pulls together which requires catching the sally as it descends. When they can safely handle a bell they will begin to ring with others to try to get the ringing rhythm correct. Change ringing and methods come later.
