Waxwing

I was lying in my bed when I heard waxwings outside. I looked out but couldn't see any, but later on around nine turned up on the apples I'd put out for them.
We had a wave come through from Scandinavia last month, but they'd pretty much all moved on south. The new birds, I think, are new arrivals from across the sea because they were very aggressive and squabbled over the food. That was how November's birds acted on arrival and they became more docile one they had had a feed. This species irrupts south in winters when the berry crop has failed.
