Ian, Alison and Charles Rennie Mackintosh
I think it was my Aunt Alison's idea that on our last day of family holiday we visit the V&A Dundee.
I was delighted to see a gallery of Scottish art, especially Mrs Cranstons tea Rooms, lovingly restored in the second floor gallery.
After the initial awe had worn off, it looked like a traditional Japanese Inn or even a Ryokan. I mentioned that to the curator and it turned out that YES Mackintosh had been heavily inspired by Japanese architecture. I hadn't realised until now.
Thank you Alison x
