Exotic Birds

Amazingly, the birds don't fly upside-down in Oz! All these photos (couldn't choose just one) I took in and around the city of Perth. There was a pair of Australian White Ibis (Threskiornis molucca), lots of noisy Rainbow Lorikeets (Trichoglossus haematodus) and a number of  skittish Wax-eyes (Zosterops lateralis). The other two water birds in my collage, I've so far been unable to identify (centre and right, bottom), though the centre one reminds me of Oliver Postgate's Graculus - of Noggin the Nog fame! Any suggestions gratefully received.

It's been the coldest April day in this region for years and years, apparently. After raining heavily all night, there were heavy showers throughout the day, but sunny intervals, so we were able to get out and about fairly comfortably. The Aussies seem very Health and Safety conscious: all the entrances to one hillside park were blocked with signs explaining that, following a night of heavy rainfall, paths were closed pending Risk Assessment.

One Extra is a panorama of Perth and the Swan River from the top of Jacob's Ladder - a long, steep flight of steps that we climbed and descended today. And the other is a special Easter version of a cup of coffee from the Mount Breakfast Bar!
