Male House Sparrow.
A through the window shot of the male House Sparrow (Passer domesticus). When I was a child they were probably the commonest birds at our feeding station. Currently we don't see them very often at the feeders. There is generally a pair which breed in a roof space but they don't visit the feeders much.
House Sparrows are currently Red listed for the UK. This means they are a concern owning to population decline. All aspects are in decline breeding numbers, breeding range, wintering population and wintering range.
House Sparrows have been introduced round the world North and South America, South Africa and Australia. Perhaps showing how attached brits were to this little fellow that they took them with them when they colonised other parts of the world.
