Snakeshead
D's alarm going off at 6 am is taking a bit of getting used to. Went across to the market and later up to the allotment; came home via some delicious charcuterie from East Coast Cured and discovered that the proprietress also tends an allotment on our site!
D phoned early on with news that Orkney had turned out to be a chimera - for now, anyway. He could still be called upon at some point, since apparently they're quite short-staffed this season. He's still at Blackness for the moment.
For a blip I had a tricky choice between the dead gull that was lying on the Bernard St bridge and this beautiful snakeshead fritillary that has just opened. ;-) It's in the, ahem, small wildflower meadow section.....well, there are certainly some wildflowers here and there!
