Xylonite
.. seems an odd name for an old Thames barge but when registered in 1919 as BX the Xylonite Plastic Co which bought her preferred their name and she has remained thus. For years she carried acid used in the production of plastic but after several alterations is now a rather smart house boat and sits there in Limehouse basin in the east end of London along with quite a few other barges and house boats, looking very regal. Although she never took part in the Dunkirk evacuations she was used in the film.
She was for sale 2017 for £425,000.
