Final Night
I finally got a male Broad-billed hummingbird to pose for me. He proceeded to sit for what seemed like an eternity but was probably 15 seconds. I decided to let this gorgeous bird speak for itself. I was very close so they were only slightly cropped.
I've pretty much packed everything into the car. Checkout time is 11:00 so I don't want to waste a second of the morning on packing. It was rather cold and windy today so I didn't stay at the birding area for very long. I had a plethora of hummers (male and female Broad-billed, Black-chinned, Magnificent) coming to the feeder hanging from my porch and that was all I needed to relax. I kept my little fire going for hours. The sun finally poked its head out around five o'clock but it was raining at the same time. I've already booked six nights in September, which may turn out to be more like the first week or two of October.
I'm going to spend the rest of the night in my pj's, listening to Madera Creek, reading and taking a lot of slow, deep breaths. Hopefully, I'll nab something interesting before I leave. It will be straight to the car wash and then home to mama.
