Understorey Story

Very cold with sunny periods, hailstorms and rain. We cowered in Longlands hide.

A pair of muntjac deer ventured into the green manure twiggy tangle. The doe showed herself briefly before scampering back into the bushes. I love her eyelashes.

These small deer, which come from China and have become naturalised here, feed on the understorey. There is concern that that they will destroy the preferred habitat of nightingales which are due to arrive back in Fishers Green next week.
