On the Beach
Fabulous day at the south end of Shetland - lots of sunshine and blue skies, and the wind stopped for a while too.
Spent the morning on Scat Ness (where else would I spend a Shetland Sunday morning) - and the afternoon on Quendale Beach. The species count on Quendale included lots of oystercatcher, several redshank, one surfer and an otter.
The otter bounced across the beach just in front of us, before disappearing into the surf. I know that having a black cat crossing your path is a sign of something (in some countries of bad luck, in others good luck), never seen anything about an otter crossing your path. I'm assuming it's a good thing.
