Engine Shed, Trier-West Bahnhof

This engine shed is now a furniture store, as a result of which it has been nicely restored.

In 1864 the Rhenish Railway Company began construction of the Eifel line from Cologne to Trier.

Trier Westbahnhof was opened in June 1871. The Prussian Railway (KPEV) wanted to electrify the line before WWI but this was opposed successfully by the military on strategic grounds. It is still to be electrified!
