A Meandering Life...

Bay of Islands

Today was a full on boat trip, one we have done twice before. We set out from Paihia and cruised around the bay learning about the historic importance of the area.

My main photo shows the highlight for us. A large pod of bottlenose dolphins surrounded our boat. Amongst them were juveniles and this baby. It’s always magical to see these amazing creatures.

My extras include the conditions at the Hole in the Rock (Motukokako) which was the roughest I have seen. Normally they take the boat through but not this time. We had managed it on our last visit.

The other extra was taken during a shore excursion at Otehel Bay on Urupukapuka island. It proves being distracted by your mobile can result in not only having your lunch stolen but the world and his wife laughing at you...
