Room with a view

This is the view from our holiday let in Lynton.North Devon. It is part of a big house built in 1815. In 1862 it became a private hotel, and in 2016 the house underwent further extensive renovation and the two wings now comprise 10 spacious apartments.

Our huge modern apartment is on three floors and overlooks the sea from all windows. The views are spectacular in all directions.

When we arrived I was taken aback at how high up we were from the sea . It is in fact 450 feet below us and I cannot imagine climbing back up after a long walk at Lynmouth. Perhaps we won't do it in the dark.

We are located in Exmoor National Park which is known as a "Dark Sky" area with no light pollution and has amazing views of the star constellations.

We are looking forward to a relaxing day in Lynmouth tomorrow and maybe a trip back uphill on the funicular water powered train.

Meanwhile we are relaxing in our beautiful apartment with a glass of wine looking out at the darkness of the sea view. Stargazing may come later.
