The Birthday Girl

It was Violet’s third birthday on Wednesday while we were away, but I said I’d go up today to see her. I couldn’t face the 5 hour journey with jet lag, so decided to take the train this time and have a more relaxed journey.

I woke up at 4am (8am Dubai time), but managed to go back to sleep until 7am. Did two loads of washing and went to the supermarket to do a food shop. Alan was working, but from home, so he said he’d take me to the station at 12pm. However at 11.30 I received an email from Virgin saying that my train may be cancelled or severely delayed due to a signalling fault at Milton Keynes!

I couldn’t find any information online so decided to head to London anyway as the girls would be really disappointed if I didn’t make it, and even if I was delayed I’d still get there. Luckily, the problem was resolved and my train left on time and I arrived in Warrington at 4.15pm where my girls were waiting for me.

Nanny had presents from Dubai as well as V’s birthday present so both girls were extra happy to see me. The time difference caught up with me though and I was in bed for 9.30pm!
