Wicken Fen

While Pete and Chris attended the first meeting of the East of England Coleoptera Group, I had a breezy walk round Wicken Fen. Expanses of golden reed and mown sedge contrasted with the deep blue-grey clouds, which eventually gave rise to some rather hefty hail showers.  I met up with them for lunch and then in the afternoon joined them in some beetle hunting - though thanks to the conditions not many species were found.

In the evening we had a family meal to celebrate St. Patrick's Day - Irish Stew and Soda bread - now becoming something of a family tradition!
