For Jade

It is ten years today since Goody-J. died of cervical cancer at the age of 27.
She had neither the talent nor the popularity of other notable deaths at the same age; - Cobain-K;  Hendrix-J;  Jones-B;  Joplin-J;  Morrison-J;  Winehouse-A.

In fact she was so unpopular that her death quite probably resulted in more vitriolic remarks than those of Yates-P and PoW-D combined.

But Jade left an unexpected legacy; her highly publicised death resulted in cohorts of women who hadn't previously bothered, to suddenly start attending their cervical screening appointments. It is not possible to calculate how many lives were saved as a direct result of that. Mine was one.

Thank you Jade.

In the ten years since then, the number of women attending their cervical screening appointments has slipped away again and so several organisations are using this anniversary to highlight the importance, and the risks involved with non-attendance.

And then this
It makes me so ANGRY!

The police forces in Britain are also under a lot of strain. Are we politely requested to stop reporting crimes?
No, we are not. Is this because cervical cancer is an icky thing which affects women more than it does men?

Makes you wonder . . .
