Diary of an Edinburgher

The less said about a night without a toilet the better... But we survived. Reminded us of travelling in the campervan. And not in a nice way. However, the gym was open early, and so was the cafe.

Rufus's mum has gone off galavanting for a couple of days, so he's staying with us. And he's even stopped crying! Usually he cries non-stop for a whole day (and night!) before giving up. He's been snoozing on and off, but mainly pacing around on alert in case his mum should walk in the door.

Jordan came to take Archie out of the mess for a while. And he bought back my reciprocating saw - I have a pile of kindling to deal with out the back from the offcuts of the floorboards. They saw a kestrel, but Jordan didn’t stay for his usual coffee and snack, as he had to GO IN to the office. He normally 'works from home' on Friday afternoons (as I believe half the council workers do).

The tilers did the floor and the wee recess in the shower, which was tricky, apparently. They'll come and finish the grouting on Monday. Kev came and replaced the toilet. Thanks Kev!

Peter sanded the kitchen floor and then mixed up some very smelly paste with sawdust (we have plenty of that) to fill the cracks between the boards. Jings! What a smell that was - even though all the windows and doors were open, we were quietly getting stoned in the lounge.

We did a bit of cleaning up when the chaps had left, but it's a bit pointless to do too much because there will be more sanding on Monday.

Toilet is back, so I can have a coffee this evening. Things are looking up!
