Nudists' Picnic
I couldn't get a picture of the sign on a post behind the empty chair because yesterday's rain had warped it...it also washed off some of the women's strategically placed grape leaves...the sign said, The chair is reserved for the nosy neighbor who reported me to the city for the fence being too tall.
There was a story in the newspaper about this, and I went in search of it today on the other side of town so I could take a picture. Apparently a neighbor complained when a man built a six foot high fence around his property so he could let his two dogs outside. The man also has a moving and hauling business and a rather ramshackle looking garden in a neighborhood of meticulously manicured places. One would think if that was the issue, the neighbors would have been happy to have the fence. You just can't please everyone...
The man with the dogs enquired as to why other neighbors had high fences and hadn't been asked to take them down. The answer was that nobody complained about the others.
I think there's more to this story than meets the eye, but I have to admit that I get a huge kick out of what does meet the eye! The man with the dogs cut his fence in half (the cut top is just visible at the bottom of the picture) and he has a good sense of humor. I'm not so sure about the neighbor....
Our neighbor started trenching his driveway and pouring concrete everywhere. Then he covered everything up with tarps and sandbags and there it has remained for months...we are making bets on if or when he will ever do anything more....Nobody has complained so I don't know if he has a sense of humor, but he is a contractor and it seems to run in their genes that they cannot possibly finish a project...especially if it is in their own home....
