Horse fly

Another funny day during which I managed to do a few small jobs that have been annoying me for a while and update most of my CV, but very little else.

Whilst I was in the garden I noticed what appeared to be a giant fly - this one. I watched him for quite a while as he ran around just one leaf slurping on whatever it is that is coating the leaves at the moment. He was very particular about staying in the shade too - he ventured out into the sun once but quickly turned and headed back to the shade. Seems that even horse flies have sun-sense!!
