Let the twinkling begin
White feathered peacock,
Perched proudly on green boughs.
Tiny lights twinkle
OK - I give in ... it's nearly Christmas so time to get the tree up. Went out and bought the tree this morning ... smaller than usual as they seem to have become expensive. So this is stood on a couple of bricks to make it seem taller!
The the ritual begins.
Scrambling in the loft for tinsel, lights and decorations.
Half an hour untangling the tree lights (how do they manage to get themselves so knotted up all on their own?).
Check lights work.
Another half an hour arranging them on the tree.
Cut myself on a broken bulb - mop up blood as, although red, probably not very festive.
Drape tinsel artfully around tree (at least I think so).
Hand box of decs to son and his girlfriend to decorate tree.
Retire with coffee and Danish.
Come back later to admire their handiwork and take photographs.
Actually, I really enjoy unpacking the Christmas things.... it's nice to see the familiar treasures. They have a week or two of glory before being wrapped in tissue paper and packed away again to next year......
