Brrrrr.....

It was super cold but gloriously sunny, so we went on a longer walk for the 11 o’clock walkies today. We often walk in the nature reserve near Alice and Elisabet’s home, but it’s a very large area, and some of the good walks require a car journey to get there. So off we went in the car and ended up at one of the bird lakes. We’ve been here a few times before. There’s a path that goes right through the middle of the lake. We stopped half way across where there are benches and took a few photos including the selfie of all three of us. Normally the lake would still be completely iced over this time of year but it’s been a warmer winter this year so there was only broken-up ice along the edges. Don’t let the blue sky fool you though - it was breezy and SO cold out there in the middle of the lake. The photo shoot didn’t last very long!

The second half of the walk took us through the forest where we were protected and so not as cold. The last three mornings there has been a dusting of snow and today it was cold enough that it was still on the ground at midday. We looked and found a geocache but unfortunately we had both forgotten our pens so we weren’t able to log it.

There were lots of rocks for Alice to jump on and earn treats. You can see in the top right picture just how rocky it is here! These are actually smaller rocks for Alice to jump - there was one so large that when she’d climbed up on it, she was way above both of our heads! She’s a bit like a mountain goat at times! If there was a rock-climbing competition at Crufts I’m sure she’d win it!

It was a great outing! If it had been a bit warmer we might have had a picnic, but we hope to have one later this week. When we got back we had a quick lunch and then went to see Alice’s Grandma - Elisabet’s Mum. We had Fika with her - coffee and her delicious home-made carrot cake which was AWESOME!! It’s always good to visit with her but Grandpa was very missed.

The rest of the day was chillax time - crochet, afternoon tea with crumpets, some skiing catch-up, homemade Thai food for dinner and a fun dog movie before bed. Another enjoyable day in Sweden!
