The beauty of Sunday is orts for Monday

I deliberately cooked more sprouts, carrots, roast potatoes & parsnips then we needed for our roast dinner last night as I wanted to make bubble n squeak to have with our gammon steaks tonight. You cannot make good bubble n squeak with freshly cooked veg, it just does'nt work. In my opinion, anyway. So now you know what we're eating tonight.

Pleased it's an easy dinner as I've been out to George & Jean again today.4 hours working on their garden. Phew! Another 4 hours I reckon will get it all up together. It's surprising just how much garden they have,  even I was surprised at it's size as it's a park home on a development.

George came out for a little chat, then went off to find his sunny seat. He's a bit of a hoarder, has a stack of half rotten branches in a corner of the garden, which to mind need to go. Jean would love them to go but it's a bit of a sore point with George.

Me - "George, what do you want to do about these sticks in the corner?"
George - "  I like to keep them for repairs, I'm a bit of a hoarder"
Me - " I could put them in the boot of my car and get rid of them if you like?"
George - "Perhaps some of them are'nt any good"
Me - "Well, you think about it and let me know tomorrow"
George then goes back indoors.  Jean, who's obviously been eaves dropping our conversation, then sticks her head out of the bedroom window "That was very good Viv, he would have said no immediately if I'd suggested it." A deliberate ploy? It worked. :)

I came away with some bits for my garden, Sedum splits, & an interesting foliage plant called Rumex sanguineus, a red-veined dock, plus some prunings of a variegated Photinia, hopefully some will be good for cuttings. Not a plant I've ever tried to propagate before, but it would be a nice plant to have for the charity plant sale I have planned for Rowcroft Hospice/Cancer Research.

Deliberate turned out to very apt for today. My next job of the day was to return a pair of jeans I bought yesterday to Tesco's. Yesterday I deliberated over whether to buy the dark denim to the light, that took all of 30seconds, (I'm not a shopper) settling for the lighter shade, but I WAS tempted to buy both pairs. As I was leaving the store I picked up their in house monthly magazine, got home, opened the cover to the first page and there was a voucher for £5 off a £25 spend on their F&F range of clothing. Well, what was I to do??? You've guessed. I did'nt need to deliberate. Today as I was going into the store I deliberated whether I should be honest and tell Customer Services why I was returning them. Hubby said they might just say, tough! So I just asked very nicely if I could return them. Money returned, I nipped up to clothing picked up a pair of each shade, & back down to the checkout. Kerching! Transaction completed.

Now it's cider time. :)

Before making the bubble n squeak.

Happy Days!
