Between fen and mountains

A pretty dial

After I had made the bread, I set about re-assembling this rather pretty 30 hour long case clock. It has both a calendar and moonphase both operated off the hour pipe behind the dial. This is ingenious but inaccurate as the lunar month is only 28 days and so the moonphase will gradually get out of sync with the date. The spelling of Keighley is interesting. Sometimes the name of a place on the dial is an alternative spelling at a time when variations in spelling were more usual. Sometimes it is a misspelling as many clockmakers would have been illiterate or semi literate and made spelling mistakes.
