Hoi An to Tam Ky

Day One of our cycle trip through Vietnam (well a bit of Vietnam). We were met at the hotel at 7.30am by our guides with bikes and a van for our bags. We then set off riding through the Old Quarter to Cam Thanh boat ramp to catch a 15 minute boat ride across the Thu Bon river to Duy Nghia Village. From here, we continued our ride through the countryside via back roads through small villages. We were meant to stop at a restaurant for lunch but there wasn't one in the village that we were meant to eat in. So the guides organised lunch for us at a villagers house. They sprang into action, helping to prepare the food and ensuring that it was all fresh and well prepared. One of them even did some of the cooking while another picked fresh vegetables and herbs from the garden. These are the first dishes being served - vietnamese omelettes and fresh fish cooked with onions. It was all deliciously fresh.
