Another day of inactivity! No, I lie - the painter did come and unstick the windows. Getting thoroughly fed up with this...

The surveyor who came and took photos yesterday tried his best, and sent an email in the afternoon requesting either photographic permission to proceed or to arrange a visit this week. No answer.

JR and Archie popped out for some sample paint pots. Did you know there are 150 different shades of 'white'? (I've made that up, but there are a LOT).

Zoe came over for a visit and she and JR talked shop. Teaching is a stressful job, and I do like to be reminded of how nice it is to be an ex-teacher! Adam suggested I contact the elusive chap's line manager... Good idea!

I found the name of the leader of the Building Warrant group our elusive man is in and rang him, but he no longer works there. However, I got another man (who dared to answer his phone - he did admit he was new to Edinburgh...) and he said that 'they're not doing site visits at the moment'... Then why don’t they tell builders that??**!! He said we could go ahead as the photos should be sufficient. What a palaver! But we do have the slight suspicion that this delay suits our builder, as he's off on another job with customers who are very demanding.

EDIT. Just realised (from the comments) that it's Yet Another blip birthday! That's weird - as I just had one!
