Unfortunately I forgot my camera and had not charged my phone so was very disappointed that I had no way to record the snowy hills in the sunshine. Luckily before my phone went dead I had taken a photo of the Gifford Panel on a cottage wall in West Linton.
Originally the stone panel which was carved around 1660 by James Gifford as a marriage panel was on his house until it was demolished about 1860.  The central panel contains portraits of him and his wife, Euphemia Veitch. The side panels include 6 progenitors of James Gifford looking very well dressed and a carving of Gifford and his wife standing among roses beneath an apple tree upon which birds are perched
