Hidden Funchal

Well, not really hidden, just less obvious.

I had a quiet morning, just exploring and watching. I went into two little chapels new to me and I went to admire how brilliantly the firefighters had managed to protect the buildings next to the big fire last week. (Extra)

I caught up on the excavations of the fort that was found when they were clearing up after the floods of 2010.

My blip was taken pointing upwards in the Palacio da Rua do Esmeraldo. (The Tribunal de Contas). They will only let you in the entrance hall.

It was overcast but now the sun breaks through from time to time.

The Carnaval is gaining momentum, more and more stalls are open and there are Street artists of various kinds. I’m really looking forward to the Children’s Carnival parade tomorrow.
