Looks Good To Me

12.12.12 Beer

On February 2, 2002 (02.02.02) Stone Brewing released the first beer in their Vertical Epic series, spaced at intervals of one year, one month, and one day. The beers were meant to be aged until 12.12.12.

I didn't find out about this until much later -- I started collecting them with the 07.07.07 (when I bought two bottles), and bought a bottle of each of the following releases, except for the 11.11.11. It had chile peppers in it, and it didn't appeal to me.

Today being 12.12.12, there are vertical tasting events taking place in various locations -- mostly in California. Lucky participants will taste all ten beers. I'm quite happy to read the tasting notes on the Stone website, and drink one of my 07.07.07 bottles.

Michael the beer man had the brilliant idea of drinking the 12.12.12 at 12:12 PM today, and posted a photo on his blog. I wish I'd been there.

I might have my own vertical tasting, if I can come up with enough people to participate. Any volunteers? You must be worthy.

If you're wondering why there wasn't a 01.01.01, here's the answer.

P.S. The 07 is excellent. I'm glad I have another one.
