Velvet wall coverings
The South of England has its famous hedgerows. Very good for wildlife. But sadly in the last 70 years a high percentage of them were destroyed in the name of more efficient agriculture.
Here in the North we are made of harder stuff. In Arnside and Silverdale there are scores, probably hundreds, of miles of limestone dry walling. They divide fields into small areas and they are alongside roads and paths.
I find them attractive in themselves but Nature likes to add these green velvet covers which are very pleasing to the eye.
My extra shows that at least one of the village shops believes that Spring id round the corner.
