Trilogy
Promise, this is the last of the trilogy of Picnic Table Walk blips. Taken just at the point we set off but today going anti-clockwise over a meadow that will get us to the church and then to yesterdays blip point and then to Monday's and finally down to the end of the road on the right.
Walking on the track is difficult as it is still mainly frozen but also very bumpy due to the tractor having gone over it. In fact, there is no track here but as walkers, you can at this time of the year walk over any meadows at will and when enough snow you can see cross-country skiers all over the place as they need smooth tracks and not where walkers have been.
Twitter has been wasting my time almost 24/7. I know I shouldn't even look at it but I simply can't help myself. I feel guilty at the thought of giving up the attempts at trying to get those in favour of Brexit to change or even consider the facts. It's a pointless task and rightly, we Remoaners are also accused of being just as pig-headed. True, at least we have something in common.
If Brexit happens, I couldn't look my grandchildren straight on when they ask me "What did you do to stop it?" if I stopped now.
Things have taken a turn for the worse today as now the extreme Labour supporters are out attacking everyone who isn't a Marxist Corbynite. The language on both the extreme left and right is simply amazing and tonight I got attacked.
The lifetime ultra-Brexiteer Conservative MP John Redwood who has shown countless how double-faced he is on the issue had posted something about today's Honda closure and I had made a harmless but pertinent comment. Someone reacted to that with unbelievable furore,
I looked at the person's profile - a seemingly middle-aged Mum who uses Liberalist, Capitalist and Socialist to describe herself! She uses words I wouldn't dream of using. Anyway, I decided the best response was to be ultra polite and after a dozen exchanges she then calmed down and apologised. However, the second we had kissed and made up, she went straight for the neck of a clearly very educated, well-travelled engineer from South Wales who had commented on my very original Redwood comment and agreed with me. Poor bloke! I apologised to him on a direct message and asked to get his views on the use of bio-methane in cars, a subject that will get much attention from me in the coming months.
Lent comes soon and maybe I will give up Twitter. It starts on 6th March and ends on 18th April by which time we ought to know if the UK is in or out. I suspect neither, the can will have been kicked out of touch and the referee will be checking the TV replay as to whether foul play involved,
When the Brexit Trilogy - Pre, During & Post Brexit is finally written, I suspect it will dwarf War & Peace. Someone ought to grab the film rights.
