Hellebore
The front garden has a lot of these hellebores, which have probably arrived from someone else's garden. They seed themselves around freely so it's a case of taking out the ones you don't want to keep. The flowerheads are very attractive and quite showy for a what is really a wild flower.
In spite of the unusual warmth at the moment there seem to be few insects around, though I haven't looked hard for them. Perhaps they're wisely biding their time. It wouldn't do for a late cold spell to catch them out in a few weeks' time. Similarly, I'd best not get tempted into sowing any seeds just yet, other than perhaps some lettuces, which should shrug off a return to chillier weather without too much trouble.
