wicklow plums...

...sweet, crunchy and delicious.
Popped into M's orchard shop this morning and the variety of plums and nectarines is dazzling.
Small golden nectarines, satsuma plums with their claret coloured flesh, fresh prunes (must find out more about them) and these Wicklow plums.

Glowing like a sunset the Wicklow plum is apparently an old plum variety that fell out of favour with the supermarkets as did many others.
Orchards of plums were ripped out to be planted with those more 'saleable'...but thankfully there are` local growers who still grow these beauties.
