Bamburgh Castle
A beautiful winter's day, and we had narrowed the choice of places to go to two - St Abbs or Lindisfarne.
In the end we decided upon the latter, and had a lovely few hours there. After eating our lunch at a picnic table by the castle (extra), we headed round towards the white beacon (Wiki informs me that it's called Emmanuel Head Beacon, and is a 15m high shipping beacon) at the far end of the island. A lovely area and, for Lindisfarne, very quiet - we saw very few people once we had passed the castle. Lots of birds though!
Didn't get quite as far as the beacon as we had to rush back to the car to drive across the causeway before the tide beat us to it!
MrM drove us down to Bamburgh so that Vanessa and Daniel could see the castle and, of course, we stopped to take photos.
Back to Wooler across the high moorland road in the hope of seeing the sun go down behind the Cheviots. Just too late, but the sky was beautiful all the same (extra).
Home to enjoy one of MrM's amazing curries...
