What is going on?

It looks as if the people are sheltering under the shade from the irrigators.

But no!

I went to watch a game of cricket. It was very hot and some of the supporters / teams were under the shade. The irrigators were on firing water a long distance but way back from the shaded area. Optical illusion, I guess.
