Christmas Market #2: London South Bank
Travelled up to London today... for 2 reasons. The main one was to meet with blipfriend Tig.bmp! Tig was the first person to comment on my journal when I signed up on 6th April. We had a fantastic few hours chatting whilst tucking into a delicious Italian meal.
The other reason we went was to walk along South Bank to view the stalls there. Another German Christmas Market... it was on a much smaller scale than yesterday's and much less crowded, so we really enjoyed our walk-about AND we bought something!
In between these two things we... visited every floor of Hamleys, went into Liberty (me for the first time), walked down Oxford Street (WOW) and popped into Selfridge and M&S. Started to head back around 5:30pm as our feet were killing us!
G wanted to see the Tree in Trafalgar Square so we did a small detour. Got there in time to be part of a Chanukah Celebration. How Fantastic! A children's choir from a local school sang a very catchy song in Hebrew. They were then followed by a rock group who also performed in Hebrew. There were some dignataries too but unfortunately, we couldn't stay as we were er - freezing!!! (and our feet were killing us. Did I mention that before?!)
Caught the s-l-o-w train back to Guildford and had to wait 10 minutes for the car to thaw demist. Got home to find our "neighbours" with their windows wide open when it was 0 degrees! Very annoying when you are freezing and other people seem to think they are in the tropics.
Glad to be home and finally take the weight off my feet. FANTASTIC day and once again, I haven't been able to settle on one image, so a collage again... I would have loved to show you Liberty. Next time...
So my blips - all of which are straight out of the camera...
Top Left: Taking advantage of some clever visual merchandising by this shop on Regent Street. Yes, that's us and Tig is standing behind us, so sorry - you still don't know what she looks like and I didn't take any pictures of our meet up!
Top Right: Oxford Street! (Don't miss G on the left). If I was absolutely pressed to choose ONE image for the day, it would be this one.
Bottom Left: Chanukah Celebration at Trafalgar Square. The place looked fantastic and was buzzing with people.
Bottom Right: Candle Stall at South Bank Christmas Market. They had some very cool and unique things at this one.
