Opportunists
5.6C bright and clear. Feeling cold. Light breeze.
Maeve the Deerhound and had our usual walk after lunch. We went up to the church along the country road and into the field to walk down to the shore. We could see the farmer in his red tractor in the distance in a field nearer the farmhouse. No ploughing activity in the bridle path field today, but the ground has been ploughed and harrowed down to where the scattered bales begin. Another gathering will have to be made before any more ploughing can be done. I was taking some close up shots around the trailer that sits near the gathered bales at the top of the field when I noticed this grass and moss, both growing in a gap between some of the wood on the trailer and its metal frame.
We carried on down to the cycle path, and as usual went through the little field and used the level crossing to get to the beach. Tide out a long way. Waves were breaking at the outer edge of the band of rocks along the shore. We walked along the sand and stones to the Fishermen's huts. Three other dog walkers and four dogs were on the beach. One of the hut owners was sawing through a log at his work area behind the dunes. Firewood for his wood burner perhaps. We exchanged a nod and said hello. The dog walkers and their dogs made their way along the beach. One towards Easthaven, two towards Carnoustie. Maeve and I walked along past the cottages to the road bridge, crossed back over the railway and wandered back home.
Later there will be haggis ... again :-)
