Hollywood comes to Shrewton.
Shrewton village on Salisbury Plain. Steven Spielberg and Sam Mendes are coming to make their WW1 epic film `1917`. They have applied for planning a mile from the village welcome sign, going to put up a french farmhouse and dig lots of trenches. Filming will last for about 4 months, starting end of April. 500 local `extras` will be taken on.
I have put in for the role of Bil Topof, a photographer. He follows the American troops into the mud, ruining his camera, and then in his even shorter scene, gets blown to pieces . Should bring it home to us all that sometimes taking pictures can be dangerous.
Anyway, in Extras, next year the Methodist Church will have the film to talk about for Lent.
