After Bonnard

Starting this week with an early trip to Tate Modern 'Pierre Bonnard: the colour of memory' was a revelation. I love his paintings of simple domestic scenes and his use of multi facetted colour.

He painted from memory. Although the compositions often remind me of snapshots, I couldn't find any reference to him using a camera as an aid.

In contrast I then went to pick up another painting from Rodney Kingston who paints en plein air, with his easel and oil paints out on the streets of London. I love his work because of the subject matter, brush strokes and uncompromising technique.
