for the record

It’s been a long time since Anniemay and I spent an evening immersed in vinyl (listening to it - not wearing it).

There was a time when we’d sit back in the optimum listening position - on the apex of the loudspeakers - a pile of LPs on the coffee table in front of us.  We’d take it turns to choose what to listen to.

I used to be a bit of a Hifi snob.  I’d often buy an LP, not because I especially liked the artist, but because I knew the recording would show just how good the Hifi system was. 

Sometimes though, those two things would come together - Little Feat’s double live album is a case in point.

Those days are long gone.  My hearing’s not what it was and there are so many simpler and more convenient ways of listening to music nowadays.


So this lovely turntable (a Rega Planar 3, for those interested in this sort of thing) and our record collection are now destined for more appreciative listeners.
