Ascent, Bonaly.

Rabbie Burns day, so I take the day off. Actually because it's my birthday at the weekend. A chill out day.The weather is a bit dreich and a bit breezy, so I decide against cycling. I mess around on the laptop, do a bit photo editing. After morning coffee, I need some fresh air, so I go for a walk around the park.. I notice buttercups are out, as is one small clump of snowdrops. Not much considering it has been so mild.

After lunch, I decide to go for a longer walk. I walk across to Oxgangs and get the 16 to Colinton. Not sure how long it will take me, I decide to walk around Torduff Reservoir. I head up to Bonaly, then follow Torduff Rd. It climbs quite steeply, but it isn't long before I reach the reservoir, Extra. I follow the road to the far end, then follow the path east.

This brings me to the Bonaly path. Just as I get there, a mountain bike is struggling up the steep hill, main blip. Basically, the top of the trees at the bottom of the hill are the same height there I am at the top of the hill. If you're on a mountain bike, descending here, it is quite exciting, as the path is quite slippy.

I follow the path down the hill, then walk back through Colinton to Redford Rd, and get the bus back to Oxgangs. I am home in time for afternoon coffee.
