Day 031/19. Brutalism.

Fawley Power Station was an oil-fired power station located on the western side of Southampton Water, between the villages of Fawley and Calshot. Its 198-metre chimney is a prominent (and navigationally useful) landmark.
Due to the EU Large Combustion Plant Directive, as Fawley burned polluting heavy fuel oil, the power station was shut on 31 March 2013.
Brutalism, also known as Brutalist architecture, is a style that emerged in the 1950s from the early-20th century modernist movement. Brutalist buildings are characterised by their massive, monolithic and 'blocky' appearance with a rigid geometric style and large-scale use of poured concrete.
It certainly fits that description to me.
You may also recognise the building.....it has been used in many films and TV shows, including the 1975 movie Rollerball, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Red Dwarf (series XI) and the exterior of Fawley power station was used as a filming location for the Star Wars film Solo: A Star Wars Story.
