The Untrained Eye

Men and their camels!

We are glam camping in the desert near Dechu . We arrive here by ‘ Jeep’ and are allocated to tents with en suite bathrooms!!

We have the choice of camel rides or/and early evening drinks to meet the other visitors from across the world. Then music  and a dancer. And then dinner.  There are no downsides. It’s cold but we’re snug.

The people who do the camel rides turn up when requested by the organisers. They need a couple of days notice because the camels , and other animals including buffalo. cattle, goats ...., roam free on roads, village centres, fields...and can be literally miles away.

The jeep ride included visits to the houses  of people living and surviving in the desert with minimal facilities. I have included extra showing a farm with separate house , bedrooms, kitchen and workroom used to grind peppers into paste. Also stockades for cows and goats at night to protect them from wild animals.

Don’t think we don’t know how lucky we are to be here .
