Around the Island
Our penultimate day in Antigua. Having spent most of our trip in the resort and on nearby beaches, today we took a trip around the island. A very friendly tour guide took the two of us to many key spots. Some well known like the English Harbour and Shirley Heights. Others less so including some beautiful and deserted beaches and one of my favourites, the derelict sugar cane factory, basically untouched since 1972! We had some authentic local lunch and in between the stops we learnt all sorts on pretty much anything we asked, from the origin of most of the vehicles on the island through to a run down on the local education system. A really good day and great to get a real flavour of what else is on the island.
This evening we were invited to dine in the resort’s top restaurant (at no extra cost!) so we dressed up a bit and enjoined a fantastic meal, lovely.
A little flavour of the day in the blip and the extras.
