A handful of rocchio
Out in the Casentino manoeuvres. At the butcher’s I ask for four sausages- which they call rocchi in the Cas. He’s impressed, as am I, that I know the dialect for salsicce. He tells they are called rocchi ( rocchio singular) after the name for a handful of grain - un rocchio..
Was he pulling my leg?
Burning a lot of wood. A day’s supply.
