Industrial Espionage?

Between services today we popped into the museum for the Robots Exhibition. I asked whether photographs were permitted and was told not, so put away the camera.

But, having seen others taking photos on their phones, decided to take just the one, of a robot that can play the trumpet. The question was, if a robot plays a set piece of music, is it art? I leave you to consider.

However, among so many examples of robot on display, why are photographs forbidden? What do they expect us to do with them - sell them to The Enemy (whoever that should be)? I promise that I shall not try to copy any of the designs.
