The Apollo! It really was here
For Glaswegians of a certain age, this sign serves as a memory that part of their youth really happened.
During the 70s and early 80s the Apollo Theatre in Renfrew Street was one of the best music venues in the country. Every band that ever was performed there.
I saw a whole load of them from Queen, Genesis and Lindisfarne to Joan Baez and Don McLean.
When it closed there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth. What we have instead is a huge Cineworld and a naff Australian-style bar.
Oh and this sign just to remind us all.
