British Museum: Ashurbanipal's Library
More kleptophotographic in large.
Extra: Extreme window cleaning
We went to the "I am Ashurbanipal - king of the world, king of Assyria" exhibition at the British Museum... It was excellent, covering not only the life of the Assyrian ruler at the empire's peak, but also the scope and diversity of the empire (from Egypt and Cyprus to the Persian Gulf), some of its history, practices, and priorities, and how our understanding has changed in recent years. Easy to recommend: splendid exhibits, and brilliantly curated and displayed...
My blip is the superb display of some of the (many) cuneiform-covered clay tablets that made up Ashurbanipal's library.
There were abseiling window cleaners working on the glass roof of the Great Court, so they were worth photographing too.
Others here (or right from Window cleaners).
